On Sunday October 16, 2011 at the historic Broadway Theatre of Pitman the 2012 Miss Liberty crowns were bestowed. Miss Liberty Outstanding Pre-Teen is Julia Keating, 10 years old and active in her community and charitable organizations including Meals On Wheels. Madison Welsh, an 8th grade student at Gloucester Catholic Junior High School nabbed the Miss Liberty Outstanding Teen title and will promote her platform, the American Red Cross. And the newly crowned Miss Liberty is Lauren Talvacchio, 23, of Sewell, Gloucester County. Talvacchio is a senior at the West Chester University whose diagnosis of severe Crohn's disease inspired her platform, 'The Silent Struggle - Living with Crohn's and Colitis." Welsh and Talvacchio will continue on to compete for the titles of Miss New Jersey's Outstanding Teen and Miss New Jersey, respectively. Keating will serve as Miss Liberty's Little Star and accompany Miss Talvacchio to the 2012 Miss New Jersey Pageant and take part in the Little Star mentoring program headed by Miss New Jersey 2008, Ashley Czachorowski (nee Fairfield).
